How To Get Rid Of Track Changes In Word Mac

We recently looked at how to change your name for new Track Changes and comments in Word for Mac. Today, we will look at how to remove all names from existing Runway Changes and comments in Word for Mac. The names will be replaced with the default label Author, as shown in figure ane.

Tin I Change My Name for Existing Rails Changes to Something Other Than "Author"?

Neither the PC nor the Mac version of Microsoft Word offers a congenital-in way to change names connected to existing comments and edits to anything other than Author. While this solution isn't ideal, it is useful when anonymity is important, such as for beta reading and blind peer reviews.

How to Remove Names from Existing Track Changes in Word for Mac

Caution: This process is not reversible and applies to all users associated with the document, even those who haven't used Track Changes. Information technology also permanently removes authorship and "Last Modified By" data. Therefore, you should complete this process on a secondary copy of your document rather than on the original.

1. Open a secondary re-create of your original certificate saved nether a dissimilar file name. (Delight see the Caution argument above.)
2. Select the Review tab in the ribbon.

3. Select the Protect Document button.

Pro Tip: If you don't take the Protect Document push in your Review tab, select the Tools carte du jour followed past Protect Document from the drop-downward menu.

4. Select Remove personal information from this file on salve in the Password Protect dialog box.

5. Select the OK button.

6. Save, close, and reopen your document.

All the names connected to Runway Changes and comments should now announced as Author, as shown in effigy 1.

You tin stop Word for Mac from calling you Author for hereafter Track Changes and comments. Even so, you cannot change the Author label continued to existing tracking and comments.

1. Select the Review tab in the ribbon (run into figure 2).
2. Select the Protect Document button (see effigy 3).
3. Deselect (uncheck) Remove personal information from this file on save in the Countersign Protect dialog box (meet figure v).

Your new Runway Changes and comments should at present appear with the name shown in the User Information department of the Preferences dialog box (Word > Preferences > User Information).
